Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members,

Welcome to the Athena-Weston School District where we are committed to our four cornerstones of Excellence, Citizenship, Community, and Lifelong Learning as the foundation while reimagining the definitions, commitments, strategies, and metrics to align with current needs and priorities. The district also strives for an emphasis on individual needs and social emotional support along with a recognition that all student pathways into post-secondary life are supported and valued. The Athena-Weston School district also has a continued focus on ensuring excellence, developing citizenship skills, valuing community connection, and fostering a mindset of lifelong learning.

On behalf of the Athena-Weston School District, I am proud to lead our district and support the vision of ensuring that “students and staff are always learning forward, grounded in their community, and empowered to embrace the future.” The hallmark of the Athena-Weston School District, and the reason that we attract a large number of out-of-district students, is that we are both small enough to value each individual and passionate enough to provide big opportunities for all kids. The fulfillment of this plan will rest on a collaborative effort among district staff, the school board, students, parents, and community members with regular monitoring of identified commitments and metrics under each of the four cornerstones.

The district’s strategic plan acts as the filter and driving force behind major decisions made by the district in the coming years. I hope you share in my enthusiasm as we continue learning forward and working together as a community to ensure that our young people are empowered to embrace the future. It is now time to embark on a path toward our constant mission: to imagine, develop, and ensure great possibilities for all of our students, grounded in the values of excellence, citizenship, community, and lifelong learning.

Sincerely,

Ann Vescio

Superintendent
